Hosted by the prestigious Geneva Country Club in Bellevue, the gala held in favour of the international activities of The Womanity Foundation welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of 870 guests on the night of February 3, 2012. A record amount of nearly CHF 1.5 million was collected during the evening. This revenue is entirely dedicated to activities for disadvantaged women and girls conducted by the Foundation in Afghanistan, Brazil, Haiti, India, Israel, Morocco and the West Bank, its administrative costs being covered by the founder and president, Yann Borgstedt.

The new goodwill ambassador of the foundation, Rosanna Arquette, paid a warm tribute to the commitment of the Foundation to girls and women, and promised to visit some of its projects to better support it.

The Foundation seized the opportunity to present its new name, The Womanity Foundation (formerly the Smiling Children Foundation). “We have chosen a name that expresses clearly what we believe in”, said Yann Borgstedt, founder and president of the Womanity Foundation. “It symbolizes the empowerment of women for the greater good of all of humanity.”
